Operation Sindoor was launched on 7 May 2025 in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror massacre, which killed 26 innocent civilians.  The objective: strike deep into terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). 

As the IAF chief revealed, the operation achieved long-range target elimination—striking over 300 km inside Pakistani territory. Several Pakistani fighter jets, including F-16s and JF-17s, were reportedly destroyed during the mission. 

The IAF halted active operations after four days, citing that mission objectives were met swiftly and decisively. As the Chief explained, every conflict has a cost, and India balanced effectiveness with restraint.
